Many plants of the Bible can be used in cooking, here is but one example. There's nothing like a meal to promote unity:
Fava Bean Rounds (falafel)
Falafel is Egypt’s national dish though found elsewhere in the Middle East. The spicy deep-fried patties are often served with pocket bread and eggplant dip. In Israel, it is sold by street vendors. Little patties are inserted into warm pocket bread along with salad greens and
2 cups water
1 cup dried white fava* or garbanzo beans (chickpeas)*
1 egg
1 small red onion*, finely chopped
2 tblsp snipped parsley
2 tblsp flour
2 tsp finely chopped garlic*
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ground coriander*
1 tsp ground cummin*
1/4 tsp baking powder
Dash of ground red pepper
Vegetable oil
Heat water and beans to boiling in 2 qt saucepan; boil 2 minutes. Remove from heat; cover and let stand 1 hour. Add enough water to cover beans. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer until tender, 60-90 minutes. Drain, reserving liquid. Mash beans; add 2-3 tbsp reserved liquid (from can). Do not puree beans in blender or food processor. Stir in remaining ingredients except oil; mixture s/b thick. Cover and let stand 1 hour. Pinch off 1” pieces; shape into rounds and flatten. Let stand 30 minutes.
Heat oil (2”) in 3 qt saucepan to 375o. Fry 4-5 rounds at a time in hot oil, turning once, until golden brown
