Before his name change, Abraham (Abram) was asked by God to walk a thousand miles with his family from the Persian Gulf city of Ur to Canaan.
Genesis 13:18:
So Abram moved his tent, and came and settled by the oaks of Mamre,
which are at Hebron;
and there
Before the God of Abraham was known, people expressed their deity through idols called gods, usually trees
. When Abraham made the transition from heathen to Godly, the word stayed the same but the “g” was capitalized, its meaning raised to new heights. Hebrew el (“God”) implies strength and applies best to Kermes Oak. Massive, it was regularly planted near Egyptian tombs.
How Arabs arrived at the word allah for God is easily correlated. The impression of awe and strength is not lost in any language.
The words Abraham and Abram mean "the (divine) Father is exalted" and "father of a multitude" as derived from the word Abba.
