Everybody has a story. The problem sometimes is in communicating it. Some want to go as far as putting it in print; or even further by composing a book. There are those who are capable of typing it into their computer, editing it and have a CD ready to go for a publisher to scoop up and make the person famous.
The news is that getting published professionally is like making the big leagues. There is so much competition and talent out there, you've got to have something different to catch the publisher's attention. Having failed that, you can send your CD to a self-publisher which means, you prepare your manuscript and they design a cover and print the book. The price for self-published is going down all the time whereby you can get copies printed for under $5. You may have to buy 100 or more books, but once you do, you still haven't sold copy one. There's also something called On-demand where you send them your CD, they do the cover and print only as many copies as you want. However, the price will be higher.
There are those who aren't interested in making the big leagues or having a garage full of books. They just want their story in print and a few copies to give to friends and relatives. They may have it in their computer but the manuscript needs editing, a cover and imagination. That's where The Orphan Press comes in.
I've been handed a handful of hand-written or type-written sheets (from an old fashioned typewriter) and asked to churn out a book. No problem. I charged the person $300 for editing, a cover and imagination. Once the grunt work was done, I charged $5 a copy for a 70 page book. Page means an 8x11.5 inch sheet turned sideways, which equals four pages. Since I have a printer, it doesn't matter to me how many I print.
I call it The Orphan Press because I'm willing to take in all the orphans who otherwise would never be published; their story would never get told; and we'd all be less for it. If you have an orphan project that needs a publishing home, contact me through the blog. Thank you for considering it.
Thanks Irishgypsy and sheraack for your comments; call again.

Vern,
I have questions for you re: Orphan Press. Do you want to communicate via email or phone?
